Curious to hear how others in here answer this question whenever they are asked?

The primary reason I support him is because he represents an integrity that has been missing in DC for too long.
I have a slew of videos asking people that exact thing, start here and work back http://www.youtube.co... in Liberty m |

Because he's pro-life, pro-gun, anti-UN, anti-IRS, anti-Federal Reserve, anti-foreign aid, anti- NAFTA & GATT and anti-world police. He's the only candidate who follows the Constitution our Founding Fathers forged.

Well for me, first and foremost it's because he's honest, and I can't stand a liar. Then toss in smart.
After that, all the things mentioned earlier. |

His honesty, integrity, his history of good living.. and everything else that's been said.

Because he is for the individual freedom (civil and property) and for the limited government power and minimum taxation strictly bound by the real interpretation of the US Constitution. All other items follow from this frame.
AND his integrity, honesty and courage proved by his 30 years voting record shows that he will do his best to implement the above if elected. |

First cup of coffee of the day, the sun hasn't come up yet, and it's raining cats and dogs. Obama and Edwards are on TV, hugging. This would be the perfect time to do some venting and maybe even answer the question along the way.
It was several years ago. Some politically savvy friends kept mentioning the name "Ron Paul" and how he is a one in a million politician. So I Googled him and it took me directly to this precious, precious page that first opened my eyes to Ron Paul: http://www.house.gov/... I'd never read anything like it - an elected politician with the testicular fortitude to tell us the Emperor was naked. On a moral level, he's the only person who's ever reminded me of my husband. So I put Dr. Paul up on the same pedestal and became a fan for life. Keep in mind, at that time the next election was years away. Even though Ron Paul was my hero, it never entered my mind - not even once- that he'd run for president in '08. Flash forward to early February, 2007. When I found out he'd formed an exploratory committee, I started jumping up and down and calling everybody I knew to spread the great news. "Ron who?" they'd ask. I made it my business to educate them, and pretty soon ink cartridges and postage became the biggest expense in the family budget. Media-wise, for a few months after he announced everything was going great. Then it all changed. The focus somehow shifted from Ron Paul the Man who knew what it would take for this country to pull itself back up by its bootstraps -- to Ron Paul's idiotic, basement dwelling, racist, seceding supporters. His supporters became such a national joke that it seemed what little media exposure Dr. Paul DID get was spent with him "up against the wall" so to speak trying to defend nonsense. It was disheartening to say the least to witness such a gracious, intelligent statesman being deluged by all that garbage. "It's hard to drain the swamp when you're up to your ass in alligators." I feel that when I first read his page years ago, I got a glimpse of the Real Ron Paul. The information he puts forth on that page is what I cling to, and why I will always support him. I wish everyone had learned of him on that page the same way I did - instead of first hearing about him last summer when the damage was already being done. I can't blame it all on his supporters though. Doing some Thursday morning quarterbacking, it's easy to think of at least three crucial mistakes Dr. Paul made all on his own. Though his supporters have on many occasions made me literally cringe. But I never said a word because haven't we all been young, loud, noisy, anarchistic and paranoid at one time or another? So in all fairness, we've had our chance, now don't they get their chance, too? It just might have cost us a Ron Paul presidency, but hey, at least a bunch of people got to use Dr. Paul for their own agenda. I don't have words for how disappointed I am in the way things were handled. All that's left is to write him in and hope for the best. And on TV, Obama and Edwards are still shuckin, jivin, huggin, and smilin. I think I'm gonna be sick now. Edited by user 6785998 on May 15, 2008 6:26 AM |
