There has been some discussion about what we can do to help Ron Paul voters to document their votes, so that we have hard evidence to contest any vote fraud. In doing so, we can help to PREVENT vote fraud. But the discussion has been fragmented across several threads, so I am consolidating the most workable ideas here. Please keep this thread bumped. We need to start implementing these ideas, fast. We need to get this system in place for the upcoming primaries and caucuses. And we definitely MUST have this system in place for Super Tuesday. Perhaps what needs to be done from here forward is to have volunteers with a clipboard and may be even a video camera where those voting for Ron Paul can state "My name is __________ and I voted for Ron Paul at Precinct ___". That way there will be a tangible record should the same occur in other primaries.

John,
This is essentially what I recommended months ago. 1) Video depositions taken of each voter identifying themselves, their precinct and swearing they just voted for Ron Paul, and 2) a certified (notarized) paper document for each polling place (of the voter's name, address and signature) where the voter swears they just finished voting for Ron Paul. Notary must be onsite and attest to each voter's identity.
These Vote Verification Booths must be set up outside the polling place buffer zones. Check with local voting and permit issuing authorities for compliance requirements on booth placement, signage and verbal communications with voters entering and leaving the polling place.

I think whatever method we use, it has to be boiled down to the lowest common denominator so it's simple and easy and quick for every Ron Paul voter to do.
For example, "using cell phones/camera to take a photo of their vote" - it's a good idea, however there's the issue that not everyone has a camera or camera phone - and inevitably some voters will forget to bring their cameras or camera phones when they vote. "Scanning and downloading the picture of the vote, and emailing to a central site" - not everyone has a scanner or computer or email.
"Downloading an affidavit from a website" - not everyone has a computer, or internet access, or a printer.
So I think the best solution so far is having precinct captains setting up booths outside the polling places, for people to sign sworn affidavits that they voted for Ron Paul. However, we cannot depend on voters to download and print their own affidavit forms - the precinct captain and their assistants should have plenty of affidavit forms printed so they can hand them out at the booths. They also should have plenty of pens ready - and whatever else is needed to fill out and notarize the affidavit. Including - having a notary public at the booth (is this doable? I'm not sure how they work)... as well as a couple of backup notary publics if possible.
(If we can, we certainly should set up a website to give people the OPTION of downloading and printing their own affidavit forms - however, we should be prepared, and assume that most voters will not print their own forms. Similarly, assume most voters will not bring their own pens, will not go down to a notary public on their own, etc... because the easier we make it for the voter, and the more we take care of these things for the voters, the more voters will complete the process. Therefore, the more viable the process will be.) Valentine and GMoney,
See this post for added ideas.
The booth would need to be outside the polling place buffer zone. I'm sure rules apply to what can be said to people entering and exiting the polling place. Would need to check with permitting and election authorities to cover the red tape. Would need to capture on paper the name, address, precinct and signature of the voter. Each voter would not need their own affidavit as long as a notary public verified each voter before they sign their name to the line that has their name and address printed. It would be wise to have persons with good printing skills capture each voter's name and address then have the voter sign their signature and date to the line in the presence of the notary. Must acquire permission from land owners if public land is not available for the booth.
Call the booths something like: Ron Paul Vote Vault Booth, or Ron Paul Vote LockBox Booth.
Would need very visible signage as darkness falls before polls close. Would need an ad in local papers telling what the booths are for and why they are needed. Paulites would not hesitate to sign. If only 50% did, it would be enough to thwart overt fraud. I'm sure others will have additional ideas.
It's sad we need to do this, but all our efforts, time and treasure could be for naught if we do not secure and verify Ron Paul's votes in a legal manner that could be taken to court.
David Sadler www.david-sadler.org No doubt, this is the easiest and best idea:

I used to be a notary. It's quick and all you need is their driver's license to verify who they are. They sign and go. I agree that even if we get 50% of RP voters to drop by our booth after voting, it would be a HUGE deterrent to vote fraud. This is arguably the most important thing we can do for the campaign. Because as Stalin said, "Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything." Also - we might have to do this without help from the Ron Paul campaign. We probably have to do this on our own initiative. If we want our freedom and our country back, we cannot let anything stand in our way - not the MSM, not vote fraud, and not even incompetent staff in Ron Paul HQ. We have to do this, with or without help from Ron Paul HQ..
