First let me present my credentials.

1984 ran for County Supervisor in Milwaukee County.
1987-1988 served as campaign manager for a candidate in the city of Milwaukee.
1987-1988 was the state coordinator for the Ron Paul campaign in Wisconsin.

Also attended a campaign workshop that Ron Paul's core team put together for the 88 election.

Having said this let me point out things that should be taking place at this time.
1. know when your state primary is and if it is an open or closed primary.
2 Get election results for the 2000 and 2004 for the presidential primary.
3 Identify target areas where Ron Paul could do well and concentrate on them.
4. Expand your meet up group members.
How do you do this talk around to friends, neighbors and co workers. One thing you will see is that a majority of them will think it is too soon to worry about the 2008 presidential election.
5 Identify these groups as members of Constitution, Libertarian, Republican, and Democratic party.
6 Invite small groups to your house and show them the you tube and the my space sites. Keep it friendly. You may not convince them on the first visit.
7. Always have campaign donation forms available along with pre-printed envelopes.
8. Convince non Republican Party members to change their voter registration.
9 Attend Republican Party functions and get well known.
10 Learn if Ron Paul is already on the presidential primary ballot. And if not see what it takes to get him on.

Until the primaries start, the core team should be developed for two reason. More people to do the work later on. And understand where we are in the election cycle. Mass distribution of at this time will result in most of them ending up on the ground.

There is much much more that could be added. But let me close with this: look professional. If you give the media the appearance of looking organized they will cover the campaign more and more.

Do the groundwork first.

Justine,

Are the campaign offices closed today (Monday, May 28th)?

When a person tries to call, there is no one answering and every single person's voicemail is full and accepting no new messages.

This may be a great sign in terms of Dr. Paul's popularity, but it is not good in other ways...

Yes, the campaign office is closed on Monday, May 28th.

I've checked all general voice mails and my own voice mail box and there are no messages.

I've informed other staffers to check their voice messages today.

Justine,

When you call in, it says each mailbox is full, and it will not allow anyone to leave a message. I tried every available extension. There is a fly in the ointment somewhere then.

Can you call me when you have a chance?

207-532-3635.

THANKS!

Justine,

A few things:

1. Has the phone system there now been cleared of bugs that were incorrectly telling everyone who called that each campaing worker's voice mail was full?

2. Have you registered a complaint with Meetup.com over the horrible service (slow, massive outages, etc.) that you have been receiving from them over the past week?

3. How long has Lou Moore been on the job now, and when will we hear from him?

4. Are you aware of all of the unofficial organizations that are popping OUTSIDE OF this meetup system, and that some of them appear to be very hierarchical, perhaps even mole-infested?

5. Is there a long term plan to hire a state coordinator for each state?

Finally,

Some very serious allegations were passed along to me by Robert Kroff from Oregon yesterday. (See "Bob's" resignation thread below.) Apparently, a Republican "Libertarian Caucus" vice-executive director there told Bob that the real scoop on RP is that he "Has told people that he knows he can't win the nomination, and is only in the race to raise money for his future Congressional races." I think that may rise to the level of slander, as it has already cost us a very active campaigner in that State.

As people become more aware of Ron Paul, I'll be asked to explain some of his positions to my friends/family. If anyone can put some of these votes in perspective, I would appreciate it.

Voted NO on more prosecution and sentencing for juvenile crime. (Jun 1999)
I don't want people to think he's "soft on crime."

Voted YES on barring website promoting Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump. (May 2006)

Not sure what this one was about.

Voted NO on establishing nationwide AMBER alert system for missing kids. (Apr 2003)

Was it just because it was "nationwide" (ie. federal gov.)?

Voted NO on banning physician-assisted suicide. (Oct 1999)
This seems inconsistent for someone who...

Opposes the death penalty. (Jan 2007)

Voted YES on continuing intelligence gathering without civil oversight. (Apr 2006)
Don't know what this was.

End draft registration; all-volunteer forces . (Dec 2000)

This makes him sound weak on defense.

Voted YES on preventing tipping off Mexicans about Minuteman Project. (Jun 2006)

Was this about national security? Isn't this a free speech issue?

Voted NO on establishing "network neutrality" (non-tiered Internet). (Jun 2006)
I understand he doesn't want gov. regulation of internet. But I'd prefer a better talking point.

Voted NO on allowing telephone monopolies to offer Internet access. (Feb 2002)
Not familiar with this legislation.

Voted YES on providing $70 million for Section 8 Housing vouchers. (Jun 2006)
How is this different from federal gov. welfare, which is unconstitutional?

Voted NO on treating religious organizations equally for tax breaks. (Jul 2001)
What does this refer to?

Most of these you have to really dig into to get to the bottom of why he voted a certain way. They are not as they appear.

There is a whole thread on the www.freedomcrowsnest.org, for example, on the intelligence gathering one. He actually voted yes on a procedural matter related to the item, not for continuing intelligence gathering without civil oversight. The affect of which was to produce a clear "no" stand on the final item in question.

Where did you get this list? My guess is it may have been from a site that was outed and discredited as not being at all what they pretend to be (at crow's) already.

Voted NO on more prosecution and sentencing for juvenile crime. (Jun 1999)
I don't want people to think he's "soft on crime."

That's easy, the injustice system has over 100 people on death row that have been proven innocent by dna evidence, and widening the injustice net to include youth only ruins more lives.

Voted YES on barring website promoting Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump. (May 2006)
Not sure what this one was about.

That's been contested and unwanted by the locals indefinitely, he probably agrees with them.

Voted NO on establishing nationwide AMBER alert system for missing kids. (Apr 2003)
Was it just because it was "nationwide" (ie. federal gov.)?

My guess would be he wanted it privately funded.

Voted NO on banning physician-assisted suicide. (Oct 1999)
This seems inconsistent for someone who...

Well, it looks to me like his and my opinion of my wishes about my property, my body, are inconsistent with yours. I don't see where the constitution authorizes you or anybody else to make my decisions for me, and I doubt he does either.

Opposes the death penalty. (Jan 2007)

We're back to the injustice system and over 100 errors on the death sentence.

Voted YES on continuing intelligence gathering without civil oversight. (Apr 2006)
Don't know what this was.

My guess would be the "civil oversight" was way overboard.

End draft registration; all-volunteer forces . (Dec 2000)
This makes him sound weak on defense.

And STRONG ON THE CONSTITUTION, ever heard of "involuntary servitude"?

Voted NO on establishing "network neutrality" (non-tiered Internet). (Jun 2006)
I understand he doesn't want gov. regulation of internet. But I'd prefer a better talking point.

THAT IS AN EXCELLENT TALKING POINT, "network neutrality" is exactly the opposite of what it is named, and is just another attempt at regulation upon deeper investigation. Search Declan McCullagh.
or Slashdot for that matter.

Thank you, Justine.

We are developing grassroots, without a campaign to work on. It's time.

Hell yes it's time! Let's get to work!

How can a grassfire grow if we do not reach out to every corner of this earth and tell them what is happening to them. Come on. It will take all of us. His stance is our Constitutional Rights. We need to educate the people on their right's and let them decide.
Yes, we should contact every group across the nation and the world on the Internet.

It's time to shine the light that WE know will touch everyone...Freedom.

I suggest we all gather our friends and family and head out to the best event of the weekend and pass out flyers on Ron Paul's issues, then we meet at the capitol or other prime location and have a picnic protest.

Attached is a handout that can be printed out and distributed for those that can afford to; the best I can offer is 16 cents/pp & 2/sided color. The more we get the word out the better.

I also suggest we find the backers and bring the cyberworld together at state conventions and then a national convention. We offer educational seminars on the Constitution, current American Gov. subjects, and opportunities to sign petitions. The admission price goes down with the more attendance you get to stimulate offerings and help foot the bill - unless you know someone interested in educating the American public! We have speakers and should recruit speakers.

It is time to take a stand.

Voted NO on banning physician-assisted suicide. (Oct 1999)

This is about giving sick, incurable people the right to die if they choose to. It's not up to the government to tell you that you must stay alive whether you want to or not.

Opposes the death penalty. (Jan 2007)

The death penalty is far more likely to be administered to the poor and to minorities than to the wealthy or to whites, even proportional to their violent crime rate. Also, as someone else pointed out, it's sometimes given to people who don't deserve it.

End draft registration; all-volunteer forces . (Dec 2000)

What, you want him signing you up to go to war against your will? If you want to be forced to fight and die, you might want to vote for someone like Giuliani or Romney.

Voted YES on providing $70 million for Section 8 Housing vouchers. (Jun 2006)

If the vouchers allow the recipients to choose any private residence, while the system he was trying to replace favored government-run housing, then this could have been a step towards weaning people off of government housing and being more pro-business in the process.
