Worldwide Ron Paul 2008 Message Board pertaining to Issues and Concerns. It would be helpful if the subject line reflected the issue topic.

Thanks Justine!!! Wow, am I glad you are here to do a little housekeeping this morning.
Can you tell us if there has been any talk about the candidate himself visiting these boards on some regular basis? Also, there has been talk about putting "strategy talk" in a more secure location. Has this been discussed by the campaign? TIA.... |

Hi, Justine,
Thanks for your admin work on this board. Can you please create a 'board admin feedback' topic so we can communicate board issues directly with you? Can you please delete the topic I created titled, "Threat Registry?" Thanks, David Sadler www.david-sadler.org |

Thank you, Justine.
We need the national campaign manager to post here. We are developing grassroots, without a campaign to work on. It's time. |

Thanks y'all for joining and starting up so many Ron Paul Meetup Groups around the country! It's exciting to see the grassroots activism developing organically by folks like you.
The purpose of this post is to give you an idea of the growing pains we are facing right now -- currently, our campaign has only five employees (compare this to the hundreds of staffers in the larger campaigns) and you will understand how difficult it is for us to focus on organizing and directing the grassroots groups while we are inundated with phone calls & emails (as well as other campaign operations.) We do realize the importance of developing and giving direction to Ron Paul MeetUp Groups -- this is one of the top priorities for us. However, at this moment we do not have the human resources in place to provide you with the needed guidance. We ask that you be patient while we figure out our grassroots strategy and find the appropriate person to manage the Ron Paul MeetUp Groups. For now, I will be your liaison and will communicate your concerns to the Campaign Committee. Due to the constraints of Representative Ron Paul's congressional and campaign schedule, he is unable to post on this Worldwide Message Board. In the future this may change, but I can not guarantee it. Thanks for your understanding. Regards, Justine Lam eCampaign Manager |

Justine, I'm just going to share some thoughts I've had. Maybe you can address these.
I don't know who the campaign staff are (by reputation and experience). I feel RP needs a national campaign manager like a "James Carville". i.e., a serious pro, who knows the ropes. That national campaign manager then need to schedule meetings to create STATE offices, and pick state campaign managers. The state campaign managers can meet with the local Meetup groups, and establish local campaign offices. Once the national campaign manager selects the state campaign managers, that will relieve the national HQ of the burden of dealing with the local Meetups/offices. The national campaign manger will only need to be marginally communicating with the local offices, because the state campaign managers will oversee those, and report to HQ/Arlington. On the state and national level, for campaign managers, we need the BEST and most EXPERIENCED, without obnoxious, ego driven personalities attached! LOL, I KNOW that's a tall order, but we have a disparate grass roots base, of Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Greens, and GOD knows what else! We MUST avoid bullying, shoving past political affiliations down anyone's throats, and be INCLUSIVE. I'm bringing this up because I have worked on campaigns, and have witnessed ego maniacs drive people away. HUMILITY has to be part of the job description of all campaign managers. Please, do me a favor. READ THIS MESSAGE AT YOUR NEXT STAFF MEETING, to all attending. |

Ok, I have an idea that might be heretical but oh well. Alright, I am a serious die hard Ron Paul supporter, and I think it is great that his National Campaign is getting involved with Meet-up. However I am worried about how some people who are posting to these forums are looking and waiting in desperation for some form of guidance from Ron Paul HQ, and even Ron Paul himself. Everyone needs to understand that Ron Paul's staff is obviously working with limited resources. (Time and money) Can we not spread his message without guidance from the National HQ? I would think that most people on this site can articulate Ron Paul's message of liberty, and be able to point people where to go in order to learn more about him. These Meet-up groups are an excellent way for supporters of Ron Paul to meet, learn about, and discuss ways to spread his message. If I may be so bold to say that even in a political campaign decentralization works a lot better than centralization. I would have to say that Ron Paul knows the problems of centralization better than anyone. It's not that I don't want the National HQ to post, and help us out. It is just that I don't want people in Meet-Up to think that Ron Paul's HQ, or Ron Paul himself has to get involved with Meet-Up in order for it to be an effective tool for raising the awareness of his candidacy.

Justine,
I understand Dr. Paul's time constraints. Thanks for answering my question above. Can you give us just a smidgen on how the campaign is doing in terms of fundraising? Are there plans to hire more national staff? I'd work for food and a mattress in a corner down there if you could use some cheap help. |

The way I would organize is like this:
Get a website for each state.(They don't have to be pretty, just informative.) Then get a website for each area in the state.(You would hope people step up and do this.) Post the area sites to the state site. Meet Up is fine but go to www.ronpaulflorida.com and look at the events. It just happens that 5 meetings are on the same day. I can't be at all of them. So by looking at the events at the state level, you see what you can do on your level. Also, it allows for people from different areas to join forces. It makes a huge difference if there is 6 people or 30 all because one group does Monday and the other Tuesday. JMHO Edited by Curt Schultz on May 21, 2007 11:12 PM |

I very much like the idea of each state developing a website. It is clear and to the point. I feel that one of the most important things we can do is to register people to vote that want to support Representative Paul. A simple google search (I.E. "Florida voter registration") will give you access to information that will be needed to register to vote. If we can start amassing copies of these forms for handing out, then that will be one less thing to do as the primaries get closer.
Perhaps if we can have a state by state calender by which events are marked, then we can coordinate events so as to maximize participation and results. Each state website could be sent the meeting dates by the meetup groups, etc. The information could then be posted centrally in each state and serve as an organizational tool so as not to have major scheduling conflicts. Thank you very much for your time, Justine, Et Al. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I hope that everyone here will remember to breath in their nose and out their mouth and repeat as necessary. ![]() Best Regards, ThomJ'76 Edited by Thomj76 on May 22, 2007 12:48 AM |
