:( Sorry you missed it. I agree, if there is a problem it needs to be addressed.

I hope you make the next one. It sounds like you will be able to really add something to our conversations.

Keep the chin up and those fingers loose. ;)

Sid

Working from the description of my troubles accessing the conference call, I got a helpful PM from another on this thread who read that. He seems to think that my using a phone card caused the problem. Someone should train the robot to to tell "talk & toss card" invitees, "I'm sorry, we do not accept calling cards" when prompted by one. It wouldn't hurt for the conference call organizer to note that in subsequent invitations as well, if, in fact, that is what caused the problem. Mine is an ATT&T card, so the underlying problem is probably that AT&T sees no need to give the conference call service a cut of my per minute fee to them, sort of like what Patricia describes with that exclusive American Express franchise. These exclusionary practices should open doors for competitors to offer better services that are open to EVERYONE who can get to a phone and simply put in the # and code when invited; except that the playing field is not level when going up against corporate giants like AT&T or American Express.

My understanding is that this conference call was free to invitees. Ron Paul's campaign picked up the tab. They may have a legitimate grievance if not told prior to the call that certain people would not be able to use the service when invited. How could the campaign know otherwise? I was willing to pay the $6 for the call

I didn't fret too much over this, especially since Chris took such great notes of what was said and has shared them with us. I do regret having missed the interactive conversations you describe, though, Sid.

I know somebody that's got one, and I'm working on them to write the project up, hang on here, may have it covered...:)

In an effort to keep this area clean, further discussion on this topic will be moved to the thread.

No, I am not a moderator, I am simply someone that can see the 2 words at the top of this forum in GREAT BIG BLACK LETTERS, that say "Campaign Announcements". Note that it DOES NOT SAY, campaign discussion.

Hi everyone,
The campaign has been really taking off this past week. We are hiring state coordinators for certain states right now. We just launched our new website (www.RonPaul2008.com), which is just the initial roll-out. Thank you Terra Eclipse Media Design for your great work!

Next, we are in the process now of printing the "slim jims" that Lew Moore talked about during the conference call. We will be distributing them shortly to MeetUp Group organizers, so it's important that I have your correct mailing address information.

I've been digging through my growing inbox trying to find everyone's contact information in my spreadsheet. While doing so I realized that I should've used SurveyMonkey in the beginning to gather this information, because it's taking way too long to copy & paste your information into a spreadsheet.

So, if you haven't already done so, and you are a MeetUp Group Organizer, please help me with gathering your contact information by filling out this Ron Paul MeetUp Group Organizer Survey.

Thank you!

The survey form didn't work correctly. It requires that address line 1 and 2 be filled in. I typed my street address twice to fill in the form. Otherwise, It wouldn't allow submission.

Does anyone know if an Iowa coordinator has been hired yet?

I wish to know the same thing.

I feel like we are missing out here. I'm passing out tons of info about Ron Paul but have no knowledge of the straw poll and what to tell people about it.

I assume the Ron Paul Campaign will have some activites planned in Ames for people making the drive up there? Will they assist with bus service assuming we generate enough support, or our meetup groups needing to work this out independently?

I've emailed several times on this and haven't heard anything back.

Pulled this off the des moines group message board so looks like the answer is yes.

I just got off the phone with Lew Moore Campaign Manager and he will be attending our meet-up group meeting this Monday Night, June 11th at the Urbandale Public Library. He is bringing with him former Iowan Joe Seehausen (sp?) who will be the Iowa Campaign Director. So, be sure to make it to the meeting. The library does allow food and drink (no booze) into the meeting room. We've got the room at 6:30 so be there early if you can.
