Hey folks,

Back by popular demand is our follow up meeting for Philly Area C4L members. Our last meeting was a great intro to where we're headed, and this meeting is the meat and potatoes of what we're to do locally in our own backyards. We'll be covering specific action plans on how to lead your precinct, what to focus on, and upcoming events.

Let's remember that we all left with specific tasks to be completed by our next meeting:

-write a detailed business plan for your Precinct

-get through the PL training steps (if you're a Precinct Leader)

-start to come up with ways to grow the number of Precinct Leaders

-bring a friend (recruit, recruit, recruit)

If you're writing a business plan, please bring extra copies to pass out to each other. To save paper (and the hassle of making 30 copies of 5+ page plans) summarize your plan onto one sheet and make 30 copies of the summary to hand out. I honestly don't know how many people to expect, might be 30, might be 3, extra can't hurt, we'll recycle the extras.

Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can start on time and end on time. If you're running late we still love you, just come that's all that matters. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, suggestions, concerns, etc. Otherwise, copy and paste this address to officially RSVP to keep a head count, thanks!

If you've had a taste of the political game and are interested in getting involved personally in politics this is for you. If you want to find out how to help other like-minded people get elected this is for you. If you're simply curious about the details of such events and why it is sometimes so hard to get people elected - this is for you.

Our goals are going to be getting people involved and active and running for offices locally. This is a great first step in that goal.

This meeting is for anyone who wants to know how to run for public office and how to help people who run for public office. It is important for anyone who wants to understand our political process and the opportunities present in political office. We will review the positions available, how to get on the ballot, and executing a successful election campaign. We will also be handing out material for upcoming elections. All ages and political backgrounds are welcome.

We are requesting a donation of $10 to cover costs.

This is a call to action for Saturday, November 1, 2008, which is when City
Council is having a special Saturday hearing on the slots parlor proposed for
Market
Street. We want to have maximum attendance so we can show the strength
of our movement that's been building for two and a half years.

City Council is trying to zone Market Street for a casino district. They are
trying to rush this through even before Foxwoods discloses its plans. There
have been no designs, no impact studies, no nothing. Yet, Council still wants
to rezone this area - and fast.

If we are going to have two casinos (and that's a big "if"), we
demand an open and transparent planning process that rationally looks at the
entire city and decides where the two casinos should go. That's right, we
need a process for both Foxwoods and SugarHouse. Instead, Councilman DiCicco
and Mayor Nutter think we should rezone first, and ask questions later. This
is crazy, and we won't stand for it.

On Saturday, November 1st -

At 9:00 am sharp we'll meet under the Chinatown Gate at 10th and Arch
At 9:15 am sharp we'll start marching to City Hall.
At 10:00 am the hearing starts at City Hall, Room 400 (4th Floor)

If you can't make it to the Chinatown Gate in time for the march, then just
meet us at City Hall by 10am. If you can't make it by 10am, then get there
whenever you can. Stay as long as you can. We understand this is a Saturday
but it's also very important.

We want you to be there with you own identity. If you are a member of town
watch, wear your town watch shirt. If you are a member of a union, wear a
union hat. If you have a banner for your neighborhood group, bring it. By
wearing stuff that shows our own identities, everyone will see how broad the
opposition is to a casino in the heart of
Philly.

Today we are sending a letter to Mayor Nutter about the November 1st hearing.
It's a very important hearing that he needs to attend. Check out the
letter by clicking .

We also need your help. We need you to download fliers, print them, and
distribute them anywhere and everywhere. We need you to forward this email to
friends. We need you to call 5 friends and personally invite them to the march
and hearing. Any questions? Want to help out even more next week? Contact
Lily@casinofreephila.org .

For everyone driving to the the event I'd suggest parking north of Vine St.
It's usually easier up there.

Media story: http://www.ftcldf.org/news-17oct2008-2.htm, read at the 6th paragraph.

The Pennsylvania Ag Department shut down the Hendricks family's dairy operation for a week and financially damaged them on the basis of illness allegedly related to their raw milk product. When test results proved negative, the State withheld the data and tried other charges. Basically, Big Dairy is using the State to try to stop dairy farmers from being able to provide consumers the health benefits that raw milk provides because Big Dairy's product is a mix of chemicals.

Come out and have good food and meet like-minded people.

As the goal of this book is to encourage Americans to stand up and take back their liberties, Ms. Wolf hopes that citizens will join her at events she is doing around the country. The Campaign for Liberty pushed all of their chips into the pot. They reserved the largest building in Minneapolis, the Target Center, for the rally. The Target Center seats 20,000 people. The RNC will be held at the same time, in a slightly smaller building. Can we make the Rally for the Republic bigger then the RNC? Or are we going to let Ron Paul address a half empty stadium?

Tickets cost $17.76 and go on sale Friday, July 25th
