Greetings Michigan Liberty Activists!

We have accomplished much since the introduction of legislation to audit the Federal Reserve in both the U.S. House (HR 1207) and the U.S. Senate (S 604). Your hard work to this point has really paid off.

You have educated a large segment of Michigan's populace on the dangers of such an unsound system. You have enabled open discussion and sensible discourse in the homes, on the radio, in coffee shops, and political halls of our great state.

Now we need your help again to communicate the need for cosponsors for S 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act (the Senate companion bill to the Audit the Fed bill in the House), to our Senators.

At this point, 282 representatives have cosponsored the Audit the Fed legislation in the House. This is truly a tremendous accomplishment considering as little as 1 year ago no representative would have given this the time of day. We accomplished this by collecting signatures on petitions, calling our representatives’ offices daily, knocking on doors, and talking to the media. Our collective effort has resulted in 9 of Michigan's representatives as cosponsors.

This is a great accomplishment, but we still have work to do!

We must communicate with our Senators and convince them of the need for transparency. We must show them that S 604 has overwhelming support.

S 604 now has 23 cosponsors, but neither of Michigan's senators, Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin, have cosponsored. Overcoming their resistance to transparency will take a massive push on the part of Michigan's liberty community.

We know we have the numbers. Think of what we can do with a month of action. That is why Campaign for Liberty recently announced a nationwide Mass Action event to bring as many senators on board with S 604 as possible.

Here is what you can do:

1. Sign and collect petitions for S 604. Your local coordinators will be contacting you on where you can sign or help to collect petitions. But you don't have to wait for instructions! Visit the Campaign for Liberty website or the brand new AuditTheFed.com to download and print petitions and get any signatures you can. You can download a copy of the petition here: www.campaignforliberty.com/usa/MI/mis604petition.doc

2. Gather signatures on “monopoly” money. We will also be picking up monopoly money at the dollar store and asking people to sign the money so we can present that to our senators as well. When someone signs your petition, just ask them to put their signature on one of the phony pieces of “monopoly” money.

3. Make copies of all signed petitions and then get them to your local coordinator. If you have any trouble, please message me on the Campaign for Liberty website with your phone number and email and I will work out arrangements to get the petitions to the rally.

4. Make your voices heard at your senators’ public appearances. Politicians are hiding from protesters unhappy with big government, which means we don't know where or when Senators Stabenow and Levin will make an appearance. Keep your eyes open, and if there is going to be an event make sure that you talk to your senators about S 604.

5. Sign up to call your senators' office. The last week of the Mass Action event will include a nationwide phone campaign to keep our senators' phones ringing off the hook. Watch for an email from HQ next week with instructions to sign up for a time to call Senator Stabenow and Senator Levin. Our goal is to have someone call every 5 minutes. That's just 500 callers for the entire week, a goal we should accomplish easily. It’s simple, it takes less than five minutes of your time, and if we all do it – it can have a huge impact!

6. Show up for the big petition drop-off event on September 15th at 3:00 PM in either Grand Rapids where we will deliver petitions to Senator Stabenow or in Warren to deliver petitions to Senator Levin.

Campaign for Liberty's Mass Action event will culminate with nationwide visits to local Senate offices. Our goal is to have over 500 people show up for each rally to drop off 2000 signatures. If you can not make it to one of the rallies, visit the office closest to you.

Make plans to be there! If you can't make it to this location, contact your local coordinator with Campaign for Liberty. Smaller events are taking place at office locations across the state.

We know what we have to do to succeed. We also know that victory could mean a revolution in the United States' monetary policy, once the Fed’s activities are exposed to the light of day.

If that's not enough motivation (really?), Campaign for Liberty is offering prizes for truly outstanding efforts. The person that collects the most signatures in the state (as certified by a State, Regional, or County Coordinator) will win an autographed copy of Congressman Paul’s new book, End the Fed!

And if Michigan collects the most signatures (as a percentage of the population), we'll win a $1,500 gift certificate to the Campaign for Liberty store.

But the only prize we really need is an audit of the Fed. And it is going to happen, if we all act now!

In Liberty,

Tony DeMott
Interim Michigan State Coordinator
