The Florida "Taxpayer Protection Amendment" will receive it's 2nd Committee vote
THIS THURSDAY!!

Please take just a minute of your time to help fight for lower taxes
by sending a short message to these important members of the Taxation
and Budget Reform Committee ? tell them that you want the "CP 45", the
Taxpayer Protection Amendment. Remember to be polite, these are
volunteers citizens members of the TBRC and are NOT elected officials:

- Carlos Lacasa: http://floridatbrc.co...
- Jacinta Mathis: http://floridatbrc.co...
- Mark Bostick: http://floridatbrc.co...
- Bob McKee: http://floridatbrc.co...
- Darryl Rouson: http://floridatbrc.co...
- Greg Turbeville: http://floridatbrc.co...

Instrumental in the push for the Taxpayer Protection Amendment has
been the Florida chapter of the Americans for Prosperity:
http://www.americansf...
Their State Coordinator is Adam Guillette (who voted for Ron Paul.)

The Taxpayer Protection Amendment:
* Forces politicians on the state and local to get voter approval for
ANY tax or fee increase. This way you can make sure that you get a
level of government that you can afford. Citizens can determine for
themselves which new, unplanned government projects to approve.
* Ties revenue/spending increases to inflation and population growth.
This insures that government spending will not run rampant. This
measure also smoothes over the business cycle and prevents unnecessary
future budget cuts.
* Mandates that surplus revenue must be refunded or credited to the
taxpayers, instead of just being wastefully spent.
* Increases fiscal responsibility by forcing politicians to set up a
budget stabilization fund, in the event of a revenue decline. This
also helps to prevent unnecessary future budget cuts.

Florida taxpayers achieved a significant victory on February 11th when
the Taxpayer Protection Amendment was approved by a unanimous vote of
a subcommittee of the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission. On
Thursday March 6th, this important legislation will now move on to a
second subcommittee. If we gain a majority of votes in this
subcommittee, our legislation will move on to the full Taxation and
Budget Reform Commission.

Date: Thursday, March 6
Time: 1:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Location: Planning & Budgetary Processes Committee,
Department of Transportation, Burns Building
Suwannee Conference Room, Second Floor
605 Suwannee Street, Tallahassee, Florida

The "TBRC" has the unique ability to take any legislation and place is
directly on the November '08 ballot as a proposed amendment to the
state constitution. No approval from the legislature or Supreme Court
is necessary.
