Veterans day this year falls on a Sunday... The parade starts at 10am on gulfstream and main-11:30 AM Then it wraps up at 5 POINTS on main st and across from the selby library and opera house and dinner theater...

The powers that be will not let us be in the parade... But we can be in the crowd...Sooo wear your shirts bring your signs, if you have one that says RON PAUL SUPPORTS OUR VETERANS AND TROOPS that would be wonderful!

All Floats and Decorated Vehicles must be in the Parade Marshalling Area by 8:00am.
All walkers & other participants must be in the Parade Marshalling area by 9:00am.

The Punta Gorda Elks Lodge 2606 & the Host City Punta Gorda, Florida
are having their annual Veterans Appreciation Parade.
The parade is the centerpiece of the Veterans Week Celebration.

This is an outstanding opportunity for Ron Paul supporters to make a huge impact on S.W. Florida voters.

Punta Gorda is the county seat of Charlotte County Florida.
S.W. Florida has more veterans per capita than any other area in the United States of America. Our brave Veterans are retiring here by the thousands. This is a very important event to the "Veteran Community" and all their supporters.

A deciding factor in your participation should be that over 70% of all Florida primary voters are over 60 years of age. These are the voters who'll decide if Ron Paul wins in Florida. The spectators at the Veterans Appreciation Parade fit the profile of the voters that will decide the January 29, 2008 Florida Primary Election.

Dr. Ron Paul served in the United States Air Force 1963 - 1965 & the Air National Guard 1965 -1968. He was a "Flight Surgeon & Captain." Ronald Reagan said "Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. We need to keep him fighting for our country."

This parade is about our Veterans. We need to let them know how Ron Paul feels about them. We will be wearing all our Ron Paul gear: t-shirts, hats, buttons, wristbands etc.
WE WILL NOT BE CARRYING MANY "RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT" SIGNS. Instead we will be asking you to make your own signs that spell out how Ron Paul supports our Veterans.

We'll be having a sign making Meetup on November 6th (see your calendars) where we'll be making many of these signs and also preparing decorations for our vehicles. If you can't attend the sign making and car decorating Meetup please make your own homemade signs and bring them to the parade.

The beautiful Ron Paul Trolley will be in the parade.

Most importantly bring every American Flag you own. Big or Small Bring em' all!

Decorate your vehicle with a small amount of Ron Paul signage and most importantly signs supporting our Veterans. Our wonderful Ron Paul supporters have decorated their cars, vans, boats, trailers, go carts, 4 wheelers, horses, & tractors in past parades.

Drive your vehicle/float in the parade, ride on the Ron Paul Trolley, or walk in the parade. You are guaranteed a wonderful day being with our courageous Veterans and fellow Ron Paul supporters.

Parade Marshalling area: Parking is at the North End of Taylor Street and Marion Ave. in
Punta Gorda. Posted signs leading to and within the staging area will direct your arrival at the site from all directions. Do a map search on your favorite Internet mapping service.

Parade Route: The parade route will step off from Taylor Street; continue onto Taylor Road; take a left onto East Ann St. - to Cooper Street, then end at Charlotte High School.
The parade route is approximately 1 mile.

De-Marshalling area: Charlotte High School. A shuttle service will be provided between the de-marshalling area and the starting point.

Main Street in the LWR town Center, has live music and food vendors out every first Friday night of the month from 6-9 P.M. It draws 500-3,000 people.

The Town Center is off of University Parkway, about 3 miles east of 175.

Really nice area and Music on Main, is a great night out for the family or couples. There is a live band and food vendors from 6-9 P.M. every first Friday of the Month.

I thought a bunch of us going out there this Nov. 2nd wearing Ron Paul T-shirts, caps buttons etc and just enjoying the evening, and walking around, could help make Ron Paul, the " talk of the town", out east.
