I recently was invited to a Tiger Bay meeting. Guest speakers were incumbent Sarasota County Tax appraiser Jim Todora and Bill Furst? Tiger bay is a very interesting group of folks?They have political guest speakers for lunch literally? After these two guests put forth their platform and answered the Directors questions, the audience then had their turn at drilling the guest speakers?

It was a very informative meeting. The general consensus after this meeting was that Bill Furst was promoting changes he would instill if elected that are out of the County appraisers office ability to change? And was running a misleading campaign by pandering the general public.

Our tax rate is determined solely by our County commissioners?They are the body of government that sets the county millage rates? The County Appraisers office has strict guidelines and formulas preset from Tallahassee that they must follow when valuating property?

Based on these directives from Tallahassee as well as our County Commissioners The County Appraisers office cannot deviate from these guidelines ?

I am hoping that you will concur with the above facts and sign Mr. Todora?s petition before may 15th 2008 and if able throw some funds to his campaign to fight these developers in his reelection as County Appraiser.
