Very short notice, I just saw this.

Tomorrow, Monday the 17th, the CGA is meeting at 12:00 to discuss an absolutely draconian gun ban.

The first, Senate bill 603, would require all ammunition to have a microstamped code on it. Business selling the ammunition would have to record to whom they sell all ammunition, including date of birth, date of sale, buyers driver's license number, and other information and keep that information for 3 years. The information would be kept by the state records for 7 years. Law to take effect by Jan. 1 2010. All non-coded ammo must be disposed of by 2012. $10,000 fines for noncompliance. THIS IS A DEFACTO GUN REGISTRY.

Several of us are planning on going to the meeting. As I understand it, you can sign up to speak before 11:30, and can enter written testimony if you make 55 copies.

There is a second bill, senate bill 607, which I haven't had a chance to read yet, but reports are that it would ban private transfers of certain types of rifles. In other words, a father couldn't pass certain types of rifles on to his son.

You can read the bills here. They aren't long or complicated.

Just scroll down to s.b. 603 and 607 and click on text of bill.
