Hello Ron Paul supporters,
In todays news paper there was a front page graphic outlining 4 candidates position on one issue, Iraq, and as you can imagine Ron Paul wasn't one of them. So I called the tribune and complained about this injustice but they give me the same old excuse that Ron Paul isn't electable. Any ways, if anyone else wants to protest you can call the editor at: 422-6724 and confront him with the issue. One good thing came from my complaint and that is that the paper is going to right a article on Ron Paul supporters for tomorrows paper and they called me up to interview me about why i support him etc. Hopefully it is a good article. The journalists didn't know much about Ron Paul and seemed to be in a rush but he was surprised when i told him Paul had collected 6 million on one day. He also thought Paul only had 13 delegates so I tried to set him straight on that. Additionally if anyone wants to submit a letter to the editor you need to do it before Wednesday at 4 if you want it to be in the paper for the election. Next Monday at UWSP there will be a mock presidential debate and i will probably be representing Ron Paul. Hope you all can come. Stephen |

I hope you're a patient man. If it's anything like a "real" debate I imagine you'll have to sit quietly much longer than anyone else. I totally support you for it though, and depending on the time, will make it a point to be there if I can make it.

Yes, lets hope the debate isn't like the real ones. I know most all of the people organizing it and so far it seems like they are going to be be fine, hopefully. I think it helps that either Nick or I or both of us have gone to each meeting.

Here is the article: http://wisconsinrapid...
Overall I'm very happy to see a positive and even hopeful article. Even better it is on the front page of the paper. There is still hope for local media. Hopefully everyone can still send a letter to the editor to keep the message in the paper. Underdog candidate's supporters intend to send a message By Adam Wise Daily Tribune Staff Even though his candidate is a long shot, Stephen Hittner plans to vote for Ron Paul. As Wisconsin moves into the national spotlight during Tuesday's presidential primary, not everyone will cast their ballots for one of the top two candidates in the Republican or Democratic primaries. Hittner, a 24-year-old Wisconsin Rapids resident, doesn't consider his vote for Paul -- a Republican congressman from Texas -- to be a wasted effort. He hopes to send a message. "If you support him by voting for him, you're supporting progress; it sends out your message of change," the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point senior said. John McCain, a senator from Arizona, has amassed a large lead in the Republican race ahead of Mike Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas, and Paul, who has seen comparatively small support nationwide. Dennis Riley, a UWSP political science professor, expects Paul to make an impact Tuesday, but it will be interesting to see whose campaign he affects. "That libertarian view from him is so different from John McCain's national security defense campaign and Mike Huckabee's Christian values campaign," Riley said. With former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney recently dropping out of the race, Wood County Republican Party Chairman Dave Ecke said there could be some delegates available to Paul, even though many agree he won't win the nomination. "Whether he wins or loses, the message is important to have him out there and keep him on the agenda," Ecke said. "Now that Romney is gone, a lot of the more conservative people will look toward Ron Paul to see what he stands for. ... I think he could have a strong effect as he gets more votes; they are going to have to start paying more attention to him." If Paul is not successful in his bid, Hittner will likely reassess the situation and still is likely to vote in November, but he's not ready to hand the nomination to McCain yet. "It's not just about the presidential election; it's addressing issues on a larger scale," Hittner said. |

Excellent! I sent a press release today to the Journal about us putting up the billboard. I don't get the paper down here, but keep your eyes open for the release. I'll be impressed if they print it.
