You are invited to join us on the eve of the Boston Tea Party at the Portage County Public Library Saturday, December 15th, 2-5pm. I've reserved one of their conference rooms for the occasion, so we can get togather and discuss anything and everything pertinent to our ongoing efforts to raise awareness for Ron Paul in this area. If you are new to the group, we'll catch you up on everything, as well as share ideas, and discuss easy activism strategies. I am planning on inviting some Huckabee supporters to listen in and field questions. If anyone has friends or family that might be interested in attending, please feel free to bring them, as well- this will be an information sharing/brainstorming meeting. Hope to see you there!

Here's a little project for all of us pasty skinned wanderers of the night.

We have at our disposal a handful of banners and yardsigns that would make great decorations to celebrate the biggest shoping day of the year. I'm going out Thanskgiving night (after all the family stuff) around midnight or 1am to decorate in time for 5am shopping rush. Those who wish to join in on the fun are welcome.

So now that we ideally have a ton of signs ready by this point, we can go out and post them. We can also take this time to put fliers on windshields. We'll need a few people with cars for this so we can spread out across town. If we can get at least three groups of two working simultaneously, we should be able to cover a large portion of town in just a couple of hours. We'll meet at my house at the scheduled time to collect materials and organize ourselves into groups, and then we're ready to go. Bring a camera if you have one- you'll need it if the uniformed gang members want to hassle you for practicing free speech.

A bunch of Meetup groups around the country are taking part in a weekend long event that they're calling "Paint the Town Ron". The idea is to organize 100+ groups to blitz their towns and cities over one weekend with Ron Paul signs in hopes of gleaning some media attention. I'm not sure that's necessarily gonna work, but I signed us up for it anyway just because putting signs up is fun. I'm thinking we could the weekend event at my house on Friday for sign making, and then go out Saturday & Sunday nights for the posting work. Of course if anyone wants to go out Friday night, too, that would be great, I just can't because of work. So this first of three Meetups will be in my garage and driveway- bring whatever you can get your hands on for sign making supplies- 6pm to 10pm.

This week I intend to gather as much cardboard as I can get my hands on from work, and then spend Saturday afternoon making all kinds of signs. If you find yourself sitting around and bored, gather up your spraypaint and cardboard, and invite yourself to my house for some beers, signmaking, and probably a campfire when it gets dark out.

Join us at Emy J's this Friday at 7pm to discuss our strategies regarding television ads. We've been considering this idea for some time, and now thanks to the diligence of Chris, we have all the info available as to go about doing that. What we will be doing is going over Chris' notes, as well as discussing anything else that needs to be addressed. If you do not know where Emy J's is, give me a call at 715-343-8435.

As we're preparing to welcome the next batch of UWSP students with banners from the interstates, we're also planning to plaster the campus and nearby neighborhoods with fliers Saturday, and Monday nights. Anyone interested in helping out, give me a call (343-8435). The national campaign is sending me 2500 fliers sometime his week, so let's get rid of them. (I'm also getting 200 bumperstickers from them, too, so anyone who wants one can have one). We want utilize anything that will catch the eye- light poles, public buildings, and bathroom stalls- whatever we can find. There was also some discussion regarding sidewalk chalking, which is a great idea, so artists needed.

Join us the nights of Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 31-Sept. 2 to hang Ron Paul banners and promo on the I-39 overpasses from Hancock up through Stevens Point. Please contact meet-up organizers Corey Kealiher (715-343-8435) or Craig Groshek (715-630-9911) to get information about the groups they are leading and what you can do, which bridges you can be assigned, etc. This will work best if we form small groups and dedicate ourselves to a bridge each.

All group members are advised to hang banners between the hours of 10 PM and 3 AM to limit risk of being detained by overzealous police, and are urged to leave banners up until no later than early afternoon, or to prepare multiple banners in lieu of their inevitable theft and destruction.

Please scout your particular bridge prior to hanging banners, to ensure you have adequate supplies. The utmost care must be taken to avoid damaging property or vehicles, or injuring innocent motorists, but the banners should also be able to resist windy and rainy conditions.

Cheap spraypaint and construction materials are available at Lowe's, Menards, and Wal-Mart. Coroplast is great for signs, as it is waterproof and is easily painted. Sandbags and ropes would be helpful to secure signs that cannot be tied.
