What's Meetup?

Maybe it's time for a little less face-to-screen and a little more face-to-face.

What's a Meetup Group?

Meetup Groups are today's support groups, parent playgroups, citizen groups, fitness groups, book clubs, professional groups, and other powerful local groups!

Poll Opened Responses

In 1988, a group of people, lead by presidential candidate Pat Robertson, started a movement inside the Republican party to make changes to the platform and effect change through taking leadership roles in the party. Pat Robertson then founded the Christian Coalition when he was unable to secure the Republican nomination. No matter if you agree with the Christian Coalition's agenda or not, one must admit that they have been extremely influential in politics for the last 20 years. We still see the effects of that movement today. That movement was not successful in getting its candidate elected but it has been in control of the Oklahoma GOP for some time. We can do the same thing. I propose we change the name of our Meetup groups throughout the state to reflect our new agenda. We can do no more in this state to secure the nomination for RP, but we can further our cause by taking back our party from the neocons. Therefore we should change our name to reflect this change in goals.
