This is urgent!

Senator Grendell called me today (Mon., April 28, 2008) saying that Senate President Bill Harris's office has been flooded with calls and e-mails, from environmental wackos (my terminology), trying to put pressure on him concerning the Great Lakes Water Compact. Sounds to me like they have organized an e-mail campaign. He said it is imperative, and is counting on our group to counter this flood by e-mailing and calling Senator Harris's office letting him know how much we appreciate and support his stand, against overwhelming odds, to protect our private water rights and that he is not alone.

Senator Grendell expressed how impressed he is at seeing the great results of our efforts by how many people are aproaching him about our upcomming public forums and letters (of ours) they read in the papers. He thinks we are doing a great job.

Count me in. However, I have another meeting on May 1st. Will see you May 12th in Chesterland.

I tried to attend the Q&A journalist meeting today. When I tried to enter the room, a Mr. Peter Annin refused to let me in. He said that this was a private meeting and that I needed to have an inviatation. I asked if this meeting was about the Great Lakes Water Compact. He said yes, that they will be discussing that in there. I asked isn't that a public issue? He reitterated that this was a private meeting for journalists only. I replied that I was notified of this meeting and was there as a concerned citizen. He asked me who notified me. I replied that I called Grendell about this. He said he was asked by Grendell's secretary (?) for guest tickets today and it was too late to furnish them. Also since there was food being offered, there wasn't enough ordered for additional people. I asked well, is is OK if I come back after dinner and just attend the Q & A portion? He reitterated athat this is a private meeting. I took his name and left.

So here's what I think is going on. This group, whoever they are, has asked the journalists to attend a private meeting about a public issue where guest speakers will fill them in on what the program is about. (I saw a group of journalists entering as I was standing there. They were girls in their mid twenties which I guessed were hardly the type I'd expect to have knowledge about the pit falls of this issue.) Then the journalists are most likely expected to write about the public program in their public newspapers and magazines to inform the public how good the program is. Sounds like preconditioning the public to me.
