Saturday is going to be a great day for canvassing in San Rafael -- but you don't have to wait that long. You can get started NOW! A great way to get started is right in your own neighborhood. Your home turf is a great warm-up location if you're new to canvassing. Most people aren't even home, so it's a lot easier than you think! I knocked on my first doors tonight, and other than being out of shape, it was really easy. A great resource for canvassing tips can be found at www.RonPaulReveres.c We have nearly 27,000 active voters in San Rafael alone. This gives you an idea of how much ground needs to be covered in Marin. For those who live in San Rafael and would like a precinct list for your neighborhood, please contact me with the intersection closest to your address. I will look up the precinct for your area, and will email you a list along with a map for reference. For those who live elsewhere in the county, you are welcome to canvass in San Rafael or cover your town. I only have precinct lists for San Rafael, but lists for the rest of the county may be purchased at the Civic Center, Room 121. (Charge is 50cents per 1000 names -- 48 San Rafael precincts at 27,000 names came to $13.50) You will also need some voter registration forms. These can be found at your local library, post office, or you may pick up a stack from the Civic Center in Room 121. (They may have you fill out a form to obtain these; List your organization as "Marin County Ron Paul 2008 Meetup Group") This is my first organized precinct walking event; I'm open to suggestions and ideas. People may prefer to work in their own neighborhoods, work in pairs, or independently. That being the case, perhaps we can gather at a place to meet/eat in the afternoon and share our canvassing experiences from earlier that day. Marin Brewing Company at Larkspur Landing worked well for the group after the Tea Party festivities. But since most of us will be out in San Rafael, there's Double Rainbow Cafe on 4th Street if we have a small group. Aroma Cafe (next to the Rafael Film Center) has plenty of space as well. Please contact me if you are interested in canvassing if you have not done so already. The Bay Area Tea Party is in San Francisco SUNDAY 12/16! 10+ Marin Group members are going, some driving, and others will meet Sunday at 9 am at the Larkspur Landing Shopping Center Starbucks, walk to the ferry at 9:20 a.m. I will have a coupon book so you can buy roundtrip discounted ferry coupons ($9 roundtrip) from me. Will wait in front of the ferry from about 9:30 am to just before departure (9:40 am), will wear a WHITE BERET with Ron Paul button pinned to it. Be there. Bring signs if you have them, and perhaps pin a teabag to your hat or clothing. (PS, don't forget to donate to the Ron Paul campaign fund www.ronpaul2008.com) When: Sunday, December 16, 2007, 11:00 AM 20071216T190000Z (You can join this event later in the day, see below what the plans are, including a debriefing at 2:30 pm or so, Gordon Biersch Brewery, south of the Ferry Building on The Embarcadero) Description: IT'S PARTY TIME! The American Ron Paul rEVOLution against corrupt government policies, abridgments of the Bill of Rights, and unconstitutional acts by our government against the will of the people.... Come and Be a Part Of It in San Francisco as we dump these Atrocities Overboard! Bring your laptops with wi/fi so we can monitor the progress of History In The Making! Call in at any time throughout the day to see where we as a group are at and are going. After making our speeches and influencing all who see us (and doing our ceremonial dump in effigy) We will march the party throughout the city to the next spot with the consensus from everyone at that time.
