Every so often a candidate comes along that you just feel good about supporting. I know that Congressman Ron Paul did it for me. Now I think I've found someone else that gives me that same feeling. State Senator Paula Dockery caught my attention when she stood toe-to-toe against vested special interests that wanted Florida Taxpayers to fund a 2.1 billion dollar commuter choo-choo to nowhere. Paula took a close look and found plenty to be suspicious about. Ultimately, SunRail was exposed as a scam and a waste of money.
Having accomplished much in the Florida Senate, Dockery (representing Lakeland and surrounding areas) is hearing the call of the people for higher office. The best place she can now serve Floridians in this troubled economy is the Governor's Mansion. And with this email you can help play a vital role in urging Paula to answer that call.
But I want to make a special appeal to all my friends that consider Congressman Ron Paul to represent a lot that is good and right in politics. As you probably know I was quite active in helping get the 2008 Ron Paul for President campaign off the ground in Orlando, Fl. I both contributed time and money. You could say 'I was Ron Paul before Ron Paul was cool;-)' That campaign was not successful and I have since moved on, trying to understand and be active here in Orlando politics.
I one of the many local issues I got involved with was SunRail outlined above. I started making phone calls to Tallahassee and alerting friends to this issue. Doug Guetzloe and his tax group 'Ax the Tax' proved an invaluable resource. He in mentioned that he was hearing really good things about Paula Dockery. As the battle intensified he suggested that we could be even more effective if we rented a buss and traveled (with folks from both our camps) to Tallahassee.
It was there that I really got to see, up close and personal, the ability and energy of Ms. Dockery in committee meetings. She consistently outwitted Senators twice her age and with twice her experience in parliamentary skills. Eventually after months of maneuvering she managed to save taxpayers (and their wallets) from hundred's of highly paid lobbyists. Now there's a woman that all Floridians can be proud of.
Now here's the surprise! I've been told by Mark Cross that her husband, 'Doc' Dockery, maxed out his contribution to then presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul! If I wasn't already impressed with Paula--I was now!
Today I want you to take a couple of steps to ensure that Paula Dockery submits her name in nomination for Florida's first female Governor. Start with going to the Draft Paula Dockery site on Facebook
http://apps.facebook.com/causes/284509/17938882?m=7b404258 Then please spread the word ALL OVER FLORIDA. The Republican Party of Florida and it's Chairman Jim Greer has anointed Bill McCollum as the heir apparent to Gov. Charlie Crist vacating the governor's mansion to run for US Senate. We must make our stand and tell the Party bosses that the people have spoken and they want Paula, not worn-out and aging Bill McCollum to be the Republican candidate.
We need an overwhelming show of support to get this campaign off to a rousing start. Do your part today!
P.S. This movement is really starting to pick up support. In just a week or two of putting up the site it already has 132 supporters!
