Some more good news

Louisiana HB68 and HB 78 withdrawn. For those that are fighting on other fronts, being that freedom and liberty are surrounded so to speak, it was a great victory at the state level. Both were firearms related, and both couldnt gather any steam. But many of us from other forums were burning up the e-mail boxes, sending in letters, and calling all selected officials involved. NRA and Louisianacarry.org did a fantastic job keeping us up to date as to any and all firearms related legislation. We have been warned that the bills can be reintroduced, so we will have to stay on our toes. If youd like to receive email alerts, they are a nice early warning system to have.

As I understand it HB 99 just got out of committee - this would ALLOW concealed carry on college campuses. I'm all for it. Does this have a chance in Louisiana? Does the earlier sandbagging of HB 68 and 78 show us that the legislature is in favor of the right of self defense? Or was this all a mirage?

I think what really helps is when we contact our reps, as soon as any gun bill comes up, pro and con. It is a tedious process, but one of the forums I am on Bayoushooters.com is very politically active. They sound the alarm and the reps get an earful. HB 199 is being attacked by school bureaucracy not sure if its idealogy, or liability concerns. But I do know the reasons they are saying in public are laden with ignorance and fear.

I heard about the bill to allow guns on campus. I do not know how I feel about that because it could go south real quick. On the other hand I would hate to see some psycho go crazy on campus. I know if that law comes into affect I am going to get my old lady a gun to goto school because under todays stresses You never know when someone will snap. I know myself and I have a moral character to keep my cool but I can't speak for all the reprobates out there. I would say its a victory and I heard the real ID is being blocked right now as We type.

I suggest everyone who has a doubt about concealed carry take the class for it. Then you will know whether or not the media and academic hysteria is valid. My wife took the class at my request, she learned so much more than I had anticipated. In fact I found myself ignorant of the realities of concealed carry. The major thing they want to get across to people is conflict resolution, before a firearm is involved. In fact concealed carry is a major hassle. I think everyone should take the class so they know the reality, not the hype.
