Convention Overview & Training Session

PRE- CONVENTION OVERVIEW AND TRAINING SESSION will be conducted on SATURDAY, MAY 31, at the LEWISVILLE SENIOR CENTER 1950 S Valley Parkway (corner of Valley Parkway and Corporate Drive) at 9:30 ? 1:00. Please plan to attend. Both candidates for National Committee Woman have been invited to attend, as well as the State Party Chair. There are several very important elections that will take place at the State Convention, including Delegates/Alternates to the National Convention in August. (If you are interested in running for National Delegate or Alternate, please let me know right away.) We also will have the DCRP polo and denim shirts some GOP jewelry and accessories that you can purchase to be ?decked out? for the Convention, if you?d like.

SPACE IS LIMITED AT THIS TRAINING so please RSVP no later than Monday, April 28 if you plan to attend. You can email convention@dentongop.org or call Marcene at HQ at 940-321-2671. Once the room capacity is reached, we will not be able to accommodate others. After April 28th, we will open the seating to alternates.

Shortly, you will be receiving a packet from the Texas Republican Party with complete details about the convention. PLEASE SEND THE REQUESTED FACILITIES FEE MENTIONED IN THE PACKET!! This fee helps offset the huge cost of holding the convention and will free up Party funds to help win elections in the fall. There is also a registration form in the packet that should be filled out and returned as soon as possible. HOTELS NEAR THE CONVENTION CENTER will probably sell out quickly, so you should make your reservations now ? you do not need to wait for your packet.

BRING A GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO ID in order to be allowed to register and enter the convention, due to high security measures. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND all convention sessions as a delegate; however, when a delegate must be absent from the floor, an alternate will be seated in his/her place. Typically, all alternates attending the convention will be seated for some period of time.

CONVENTION COMMITTEES ARE OPEN TO DELEGATES and ALTERNATES. The Temporary Resolutions and Temporary Rules Committees begin meeting on Monday afternoon, June 9 and continue meeting through Thursday evening June 12. Meeting schedules will be posted on the RPT website: www.texasgop.org under Convention information.

YOU WILL BE INVITED TO OTHER ACTIVITIES such as brunches, dinners and receptions. Additional events will be listed in your Convention program.
