I recently emailed Steve Vasquez to see how is campaigning is going,  
here's what he had to say.


Marek,

Its good to hear from you.  The campaign is moving forward, we have a  
fundraiser event in NYC we are starting to plan for.  We are building  
up local and online supporters (Facebook and MySpace).  The most  
difficult aspect is currently fund raising, as people are tight with  
bills.

As you may know, I am in a competitive race in the NY 21st district,  
where McNulty, the incumbent announced his retirement late in the   
season, opening up  the biggest  opportunity in 20 years to gain this  
seat.  While the district  leans Democrat, the district overwhelmingly  
voted for Pataki for Governor in his race. There are 170K registered  
Democrats, 120K Republicans, and 130K Independents/Undecla red, which  
allows for a wide swing.  In neighboring NY 20th district, Democrat  
Gillibrand won the district, even though the Republican majority is a  
greater ratio than the Democrat majority in the 21st.  There are 8  
democrats fighting it out tooth and nail for their primary, which will  
be bloody and cause a split among Democrats.  The other Republican  
loaned himself $100K and said he will not put anymore money in.  If I  
can prove to raise $200K in the next few months, he may even choose to  
let me take the nomination without needing to primary.

Subject: Ron Paul Needs Help In Congress

This is a critical time for our country.  With the Federal Reserve  
recklessly debasing our dollar and gaining more power over our free  
markets, the U.S. on the brink of war with Iran, Americans losing  
their Constitutional liberties and rights with the REAL-ID and Patriot  
Act, the U.S. is heading in a direction that our forefathers will no  
longer recognize.  Our Constitutional Republic is in danger of falling  
apart, much sooner than later.  How?  According to David Walker, the  
previous U.S. Comptroller General, within 20 years all 78 million baby  
boomers will enter retirement age, and the federal government, with a  
current $53 trillion deficit in Social Security, Medicare, and other  
Entitlements, will go bankrupt.  This is our greatest threat to  
national security, as the federal government will not be able to pay  
for National Defense or any other federal duties.  And you, the  
taxpayer, will have to pay over $440,000 per household to bail the  
government.

It is up to us to change this, and Ron Paul is our beacon.  But Ron  
Paul is only one man, and he needs more support in Congress to make  
real change.  We need more leaders with integrity and the strength to  
make the hard decisions that the currently elected ?American?ts? will  
not consider due to their leash to special interest money.

One such leader is Steven Vasquez.  Steven is an MBA, entrepreneur,  
and one of the leaders in the NY Ron Paul grassroot movement that  
helped lead to over 7% in the Super Tuesday primary, with no major  
media or national campaign support.  Steven is running in the NY 21st

Republicans.  The incumbent is retiring this year, leaving an open
