Here's my latest weekly report to Utahns for Liberty of Utah County...

Howdy there, fellow liberty-lovin' Utahns of Utah County! :D

Past:

Last Tuesday at noon, at BYU, there was a student debate between libertarians and socialists about both the environment and education. Our own Shiloh Logan was one of two debaters for the libertarian side, both of whom made an excellent case for liberty. Dozens of BYU students listened, some while eating lunch.

Last Wednesday evening, in Lehi, Jamie Besaw held another meeting of her Liberty Book Club to discuss Ron Paul's The Revolution: A Manifesto. About six attended. They will meet again on November 19th to discuss Murray Rothbard's The Case Against the Fed. I'd love to eventually see such clubs all over Utah County.

Last Friday morning, in Salt Lake City, some folks planned to protest the financial-sector power-grab/bailout bill. I don't know if anyone from our group joined them, nor how this protest went. If any of y'all attended, then you're more than welcome to post a report about it on our message board, as always.

Last Saturday afternoon, in Sandy, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Utah held its first annual convention for about five hours. Please visit our message board to read more about what happened there and/or to share your own comments about it.

In other recent news, grassroots pressure convinced the U.S. House of Representatives to narrowly defeat Bush's proposed power-grab and bailout of our nation's financial sector. Please visit our message board for details and/or discussion about any of these matters.

Future:

This Wednesday at 7:00PM, at UVU, candidates for U.S. Representative from Utah's 3rd Congressional district will debate each other. Please visit our calendar for details.

This Thursday at 8:00AM, in Salt Lake City, the Utah Intergovernmental Roundtable will hold its annual summit. This year's topic is about reforming Utah's health care system. Would at least one person care to attend this and then provide us with a report about what evils our public officers are contemplating unleashing upon us? Please visit our calendar for details.

This Saturday at 12:00PM, in Lehi, Connor Boyack will host another monthly Liberty Lunch. I'd love to eventually see such regular meetings all over Utah County. Please visit our calendar for details.

This Saturday at 8:00AM, in Lindon, I may or may not staff a booth at Lindon's Farmers' Market, both to advertise our group and to spread some educational literature to any who may be interested. If anyone has any Chuck Baldwin literature, then I'd be happy to share it there. Lindon is also Sandstrom/Fowlke territory. Is Sandstrom worth supporting? Please visit our calendar for details and/or to RSVP.

Is there anything else that we should be trying to do? Or that we should know? Do any of you have anything else that you'd like to share with us? If so, then please feel free to share it with us all on our message board at your leisure and/or to suggest that I add it to our calendar. And please try to visit these pages as regularly as you can -- if you haven't been doing this, then you've probably been missing things.

So, here's to another week in our campaign for liberty! :D

I need to make a few corrections/additions.

Tonight at 5:30PM, BYU's College Republicans will be decorating Provo's new RNC Victory Office while enjoying free pizza.

Tomorrow at 10:30AM, RNC Chairman Mike Duncan will appear at this same Victory Office.

Tomorrow at 7:00PM, Don Irvine of Accuracy in Media will speak to BYU's College Republicans.

This month's Liberty Lunch will not be held in Lehi but, rather, in Provo at Kiwanis Park.

Thanks, y'all!
