Tomorrow, our Senate will vote on H.R. 6304, the FISA Amendments Act of 2008, which the House of Representatives recently approved. You can read Ron Paul's observations about this bill here. Please urge Senators Hatch and Bennett to vote against it. Here's a copy of my e-mail to Senator Hatch...
Senator Hatch, I have major concerns about H.R. 6304, The FISA Amendments Act of 2008, both for allowing unwarranted surveillance, in violation of Amendment 4, and for granting immunity to criminals ex post facto, in violation of Article I Section 9. I know that Dubya considers our inspired Constitution to be "just a g**d***ed piece of paper" that gets in his way, despite having sworn a solemn oath to uphold it, but I hope that your attitude is different. As Bush wages war on both our Constitution and on our party's base, stripping us of our essential liberties in the name of national security, I hope that you won't support him in this. Please remember your oath of office and vote against this dangerous piece of unconstitutional legislation. Thank you. Dave Garber |
