Here's my latest weekly report to Utahns for Liberty of Utah County...
Howdy there, fellow liberty-lovin' Utahns of Utah County! :D Past: Last Tuesday, nationwide, folks called their Congresscritters to protest North American integration. I've heard no reports about how this went. If y'all heard any, then please feel free to share them on our message board. Last Tuesday evening, in Lindon, a new group called Guarding Your Freedom held its first meeting. I didn't attend this meeting and I don't know much detail about what transpired at it. Last Wednesday, at BYU, I'd reserved a Constitution Day booth. Unfortunately, I had neither the time (due to being behind in my schoolwork) nor the pocket Constitutions (due to having no money to buy them) for it. Last Wednesday evening, in Provo, there was a Constitution Celebration at Provo's Tabernacle. It was quite a treat. I posted a brief report about it on our message board. Late last week, in Las Vegas, there was a second annual Conservative Leadership Conference, as well as a Leadership Institute Grassroots Campaign School. I didn't have enough time nor money to attend either of these. If anyone else attended them, then please feel free to report about your experiences there on our message board. Last Saturday, in Provo, BYU hosted another football game. I'd hoped to distribute fliers there or something, but had no fliers to distribute, nor anyone to help me do so. Also, Crossroads of the West held another gun show in Sandy. Similarly, Salt Lake County's group didn't have enough time left nor interest nor materials to plan anything worthwhile there. I hope that, as time passes, we'll accumulate some excellent creative ideas about how we can effectively support liberty at such events, as well as both people and things to help carry out these ideas. In other recent news, big bailouts abound and I'm urging everyone onward. Please visit our message board for details and/or discussion about any of these matters. Future: This Tuesday sometime, at BYU, BYU's Debate Club will sponsor a debate between libertarians and socialists about both education and the environment. Our own Shiloh Logan will be defending the libertarian/Constitutionalist perspective. I don't yet know this debate's exact time nor place. Please visit our calendar for details, once I've posted them. This Wednesday at 8:00PM, in Lehi, Jamie Besaw will host another Liberty Book Club meeting, this one to discuss Ron Paul's The Revolution: A Manifesto. Please visit our calendar for details--and please consider following Jamie's example by starting your own local book club. This Saturday at 10:30AM, in Sandy, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Utah will hold a convention. Please visit our calendar for details and/or to RSVP. Is there anything else that we should be trying to do? Or that we should know? Do any of you have anything else that you'd like to share with us? If so, then please feel free to share it with us all on our message board at your leisure and/or to suggest that I add it to our calendar. And please try to visit these pages as regularly as you can -- if you haven't been doing this, then you've probably been missing things. So, here's to another week in our campaign for liberty! :D |
