Ron Paul’s legislation HR 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act, to amend title 31, United States Code, to reform the manner in which the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is audited by the Comptroller General of the United States and the manner in which such audits are reported, and for other purposes is gaining support. HR 1207 has 58 co-sponsors and real potential to pass — BUT only if we educate and rally the people to support it and get our Congresspeople to put it to a vote and pass it.

HR 1207 will open the Fed to transparency. We must not miss this opportunity!

It is now in the House Committee on Financial Services. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP in this legislation! If it doesn’t get out of committee it will not have the opportunity to be voted on by the full House membership! There are 71 members on this committee and they are all listed below.

We need to let them know that we want them to allow full House consideration of HR 1207 so it can move forward. NOW is the time!

Call their offices, write to, email, fax them (You can send up to 2 FREE faxes per day via faxzero) Let them know they need to support HR 1207. If you live in their district, visit or meet with them in their offices.

The same is true for HR 1207's Senate companion bill, S 604, Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009, introduced by Sen. Bernard Sanders (I-VT). It was sent to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. If it doesn’t get moved out of committee it too will not come to a vote!. It has 23 members all listed below.

We need to lobby them to support S 604, to allow full Senate consideration of the bill so it can move forward.
Again, please call their offices, write to, email, fax them. If you are a resident of their state, visit their offices.

Also, the bill has no co-sponsors, so please strongly urge your senators to sign on. They can do so at anytime during the progression of the bill through the legislative process.

Also in the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs is S 513, Federal Reserve Transparency Act, a bill to require the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System to publish information on financial assistance provided to various entities, and for other purposes. It too was introduced by Sen. Sanders with co-sponsors Sens. Russell Feingold, D-WI and Blanche Lincoln, D-AR. Again, please lobby committee members to vote S 513 out of committee and strongly urge your senators to sign on as co-sponsors. Thank you!
