I just got debrains comments upon his leaving the group and I am perplexed. He has not even been to one meeting yet so he doesn't understand the context of this group. we are ust about to have our second meeting!! Many of you haven't been to our first meeting either so maybe I should explain the vision here.
Many of those who loved and love ROn Paul and his revolution and hate the statist drift our nation is going in, do not fully understand the ideological background of Ron Paul and our founding fathers. So getting together and reading and discussing those great minds that so clearly define and spell out the underlying philosophy is vastly important. the great need of any revolution is to have a core and base of intellectuals and philosophers that can help define and shape a movement. Especially in a movements need to expose and defeat ideological and philosophical errors in the main ideological trends today. To quote another Paul, "you must have an answer to the faith that is in you. " Far to many people today join an ideological movement with no clue as to what is the defining ideas of that movement. They cannot express any profound ideas, thoughts or even a coherent rebuttal, they march, wave banners and run on pure emotion. Which will get you to the first mile marker but no further. To read the great minds, is to train yourself to have great thoughts, to argue those ideas in a seminar is to form the bases of rhetoric and public speaking, to hone those skills begins to make you an automatic leader. To learn to lead by the example of great minds is to have not only the spirit of people Like Ron Paul, it is to have their souls as well. Socrates had few students but went onto change the world. I do not care if this meeting never has more then 5 people, if those five people can stand in the clash of history and pronounce humanities greatest Truths in a coherent and clear way. It is not about numbers, it is about quality. A quality of thought and mind. I would love this group to have many more members, but if we do not, then it is not a loss. WHo knows, that one person that comes may in the future be that one individual that helps defeat tyranny in our time. Aristotle had one great student, Alexander the great, I don't think he ever thought his lack of students was a great loss. Everyone who has joined this group is a winner in my book. Hungry minds change the world and its history. Even if no one coming ever jumps on a soapbox and preaches to crowds, or becomes a stateman and pronounces great truths in the senate, they are still liberties torch shining out into the world. May their light set the world afire! |
