Talk about this Meetup

  • Posted Apr 21, 2008 2:10 PM
Since our item is on page 4 of the agenda, I will be able to come around 8:00-8:30 and still speak probably.

Who attended?

    •  Mosby is the only objective view from the council.
    •  Disappointing. The Council rubber-stamped the ordiance to make us "guilty until proven innocent", and to implement "New Speak" into the government of Oak Ridge ("Running a red light is now a non-moving violation"). Only Mr. Moseby voted "nay" to his credit. Ms. Smith did question the constitutionality of the red light cams, but still voted in favor of the ordinance. No one answered our twice-asked question about "What kind of problem exists now?". No statistics have been presented, only opinions. An independent engineer who had been ticketed in Knoxville by red light cams presented statistics showing that there is not enough time to make a proper stop or keep from running a light when trying to go through on a yellow light. We have invited him to join our group. And, as always, the citizens are asleep. The engineer also expressed his opionion that the cams are simply a temptation for revenue-raising, not safety.
