Mike Doyle has been a Congressman since 1995. A quick look at his voting record along with his recent vote in favor of the corporate welfare bailout plan is indication that he needs to be replaced. Luckily, this election Titus North of the Green Party is Doyle's opponent. North opposes the bailout, would abolish the federal reserve, supports a non-interventionist foreign policy, would protect the constitution, etc. This Saturday, we will meet in front of Doyle's McKeesport office ( Map of his office location.) to 1) Let people know that Doyle is unfit for office (make some signs) and 2) Help North replace Doyle by passing out his literature (I have flyers).

Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr will speak at Doherty Hall on the CMU campus on Friday, Oct 10. Doors open at 5, speakers start at 5:30, goes until 6:30 with a book signing afterward. I should be introducing Rep Barr, so that should be interesting. Things we need to do: 1. Put up posters...I made up a poster that will probably piss everyone off, check the files section. 2. Get our candidates there to hand out their lit. 3. Fill up the hall with sign-waivers (I've got the signs). 4. Hand out our C4L lit and recruit! We're also going to try and have an event at Pitt earlier if we can get a room (anyone with a good idea for a restaurant with a nice meeting room email me please), a radio interview (KQV AM 1410), and in the evening have a fundraiser in Andy Tepper's house in Wexford ...if anyone is interested get in touch w/me. Hope to see a lot of activists there! -DaveP

We are meeting to help campaign for Jim Barr who is running for represent in District 20 in PA. Jim received the required number of signatures and will be appearing on the ballot in the November election as a constitution party member. Jim has made up reading materials for us to distribute to the public in order to get his name out there. We need to let people know that Jim is running! This event will consist of volunteers getting together and going door to door with canvassing material for Jim. Registered voter lists will be provided to everyone at the Dave P's house.
Over the next 37 days we hope that enough people can lend some of their free time to his campaign. There is no Republican running and Jim has only 1 opponent. Thus Republicans should favor him and very probably, many independents. It's just about getting his name out there! Even if he does not win it will set him up for a later election and will give third parties more exposure. It is up to us to make this happen. This is what RP is hoping we can do. Hope to see you there!

Click here for details on the protests taking place in downtown Pittsburgh. Or, if you do not live near the city, go to this site to search for organized rallies in your area. http://cnnwire.blogs .cnn.com/ : Bailout foes plan day of protests Posted: 12:24 PM ET NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The public backlash against the Bush administration' s proposal to use tax dollars to bail out Wall Street could spill into the streets Thursday. "People all over the country are up in arms about this," said David Elliot, a spokesman for grassroots advocacy group UsAction. "Our members are livid, and they're hitting the streets." At present, there are 220 events planned in more than 30 states, according to organizers at TrueMajority.com. A number of organizations have contributed to the planning of the protests, including Democracy for America, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) and labor unions. Thanks for the heads up Crystal! Here's some literature for distribution courtesy of the Campaign for Liberty: Crisis on Wall Street Flyer, Slim Jim
