What: On Tuesday the 21st, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman canceled his committee's health care bill (HR 3200) markup for the day in order to continue negotiating behind closed doors with the conservative Blue Dog Democrats, who don't think their party's bill does enough to cut medical costs. President Obama was also scheduled to meet with Democrats on the committee, including some of the Blue Dogs who are wary of the current proposals. (See yesterdays Health Care Blitz! 2

The President's push to get health care legislation passed by Congress's August recess is being met with pushback, not only from Republican Congresspeople but from the fiscally conservative Democrats. Our calls, faxes, and emails are having an impact.

When: All Day Wednesday the 22nd.

Action: Call, fax and/or email any of the House Energy and Commerce Committee members that you were unable to contact on Tuesday. If you haven't already, focus on contacting the Blue Dog Dems on the committee, then the other Dem and the GOP members.
