David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh by the state House Tourism and Recreational Development Committee.
First enacted in fiscal year 2004-05, the $75 million in tax credits for film makers that spend at least 60 percent of their production expenses in the state have been questioned by some legislators in recent years. A Senate-passed measure, Senate Bill 850, would target the tax credit for repeal this year and cut tourism promotion funding as the state faces a projected revenue shortfall of $3.2 billion by June 30. SB 850 is cosponsored by GOP state senators Jake Coreman (Dist 34), Dominic Pileggi (Dist 9) & Joseph Scarnati (Dist 25) http://www.legis.stat...
The Committee's chairman, Rep. Thaddeus Kirkland (D-Dist 159) is opposed to SB 850.
