Bastille Day is the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is called "Fête Nationale" ("National Celebration"), in official parlance, or more commonly "quatorze juillet" ("14 July"). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern French nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.
Bastille Day: Yet another opportunity to ponder
the presence and the concept of freedom in all of our lives. Freedom from
oppression is a goal that every human being harbors deep in their hearts. It is
a God given and natural birthright and the want of it actually comes down, I
believe, in our own DNA. If you find that something, anything is holding you
back from living up to your fullest potential while also living your best life,
declare freedom today by declaring this affirmation for at least the next 27
(say it nines times each in the morning upon awakening, again at midday and then
again right before you go to sleep at night): 'I cast this burden on the Christ
within and I go free.' (from the writings of FS Shinn). And now, may each one of
you who practices this credo with faith and regularity be freed from anything
that holds you in bondage and know that you will also now be free to go forward
and purposely pursue and fulfill your own destiny! FREEDOM!
