Buycott of Whole Foods Market
Greetings!
As some of you may have heard, the CEO of Whole Foods Market, Inc., John Mackey, wrote an excellent op-ed (link below) in the Wall Street Journal a few weeks ago against government run health care. As a successful CEO, he highlighted reasons in the article why he is opposed to ObamaCare and offered his own suggestions.
Excerpts:
"...the last thing our country needs is a massive new health-care entitlement that will create hundreds of billions of dollars of new unfunded deficits and move us much closer to a government takeover of our health-care system. Instead, we should be trying to achieve reforms by moving in the opposite direction-toward less government control and more individual empowerment."
"Health care is a service that we all need, but just like food and shelter it is best provided through voluntary and mutually beneficial market exchanges. A careful reading of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution will not reveal any intrinsic right to health care, food or shelter. That's because there isn't any. This "right" has never existed in America".
John Mackey is a good corporate citizen. He pays his employees a good wage and offers, by all accounts, a good and competitive benefits package- including health insurance- to his employees. His views are founded in his experience running a large, successful corporation- unlike the VAST majority of members of Congress and the President.
Because of his "radical" views, many liberal groups and unions have organized a boycott of Whole Foods Market, Inc. stores. Those of us that believe in free markets, capitalism and the values on which this country was founded should support each other- personally, politically and in business!
Whole Foods offers LOCAL, organically grown foods and a variety of healthy packaged foods, ready to eat meals, produce, and natural health care products. We've personally enjoyed the selection at their store for years.
So please join us Tuesday, Sept. 8th at 6pm as we shop and spend some our hard-earned dollars to support Whole Foods, Inc. (address and map below) and the courageous efforts of their CEO.The store has a wonderful salad bar with hot food items. Bring your family and have dinner. If you are unable to shop at 6pm, please patronize the store at another time that day.
