Re: [ronpaul-1357] [Fwd: Rickey.... checking in on the r3volution]

Well, you could say we "lost interest" because it became clear that the movement was about the message, not the man, and that Ron Paul will not be in the white house next year.  That doesn't mean we don't take the message seriously.  Some of us who don't attend meetings anymore (i stopped wishing Paul would be president on feb. 5) still believe in the message and convince others that sound money is the way to go, that NAFTA and NAU should be fought tooth and nail, that the IRS doesn't need to exist, and isn't doing its job.  We can't achieve anything in the movement if we just stand in the rain and hand out slim-jims.  We do it by expanding the base, appealing to congress, educating people who might be interested. You can't con people into voting for someone they've never heard of.  Yes, Ron Paul was a figurehead for the movement. but he won't be president. at least he's still in congress so we can tell Jack Kingston et al. whom to model their decisions after.  In addition, the kind of  "bunker down and buy ammo because america's going down" attitude expressed in your (Mr. Walker's) last sentence (perhaps jokingly) is something that set me apart from other group members.  I'm in the movement because I want economic responsibility in our government.  But i also want a socially progressive future.  and to end the war in Iraq. and to eliminate lobbyist influence over our government.
So yes, when I saw that Ron Paul would not make it as a candidate, i researched other candidates more thoroughly. I decided to make an informed decision about who actually could become president and who would do the best job. It's not about Ron Paul anymore. But the Revolution continues.

Peace,
Jake (Libertarian, Former Ron Paul supporter, and ready to move on)

I became very disappointed in the way the whole Ron Paul experience went. We had many people interested in RP and the movement in the beginning but they quickly lost interest as it became evident that he was not going to get the nomination. It also became very clear that myself and people that see the world like I do only make up about 4% of the population nationally. The campaign spent very little money in Georgia and Florida. With millions raised I never saw a commercial about his campaign. RP came to Georgia one time. Locally I had about 4 people who really helped try to get his message out. Personally, I 'm buying ammunition and stocking my shelves while waiting for the coming disaster that once was America.
Good Luck!

Unfortunately no Ron Paul people made it thru in my district 4.

There were 6 of us who tried and 8 who were McCain supporters. One of which
told me they was there for the purpose of keeping RP people out. They got 3
delegates & 3 alternates. They were personal friends of the panel of voters
& made it very clear we were not. But... we fight on.
