Listen to Dr. Baldwin speak about: The Second Amendment: "To help keep your family safe and your country free, go buy a gun." Hope for America: "I am personally convinced that, as we get out and our message is received by the people of America, we will find a ready audience for our message of freedom and hope!" The Border: "The first day Chuck Baldwin is in office as President is the last day Ramos and Compean spend in jail!" The Sanctity of Life: "I will use the bully pulpit of the Presidency to demand that Congress enact Dr. Ron Paul's Sanctity of Life Act which would set forth that every unborn child is a 'person' under the Constitution, entitled to equal protection of the law and therefore, no unborn child could be killed without due process of law." American Jobs: “I favor a tariff based revenue system, originally implemented by our founding fathers, and which was the policy of the United States during most of our nation's history.”

Protestors are planning to call attention to McCain’s support for the war in Iraq. Local chapters of Military Families Speak Out and Veterans for Peace have joined the Teaneck Peace and Justice Coalition and Bergen Grassroots. They plan to be outside the Glenpointe Marriott Hotel where McCain is scheduled to meet briefly with donors. The event itself is closed to the public. NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT TIME MCCAIN WILL ARRIVE. NORTHJERSEY .COM SAYS IT WILL BE AN EVENING MEETING. FOR MORE INFO VISIT http://www.northjers ey.com/news/McCain_c oming_to_North_Jerse y_today.html

Our first event for the Ron Paul/Murray Sabrin slate of Bergen County Freeholders (comprised of Meetup members Edward Durfee, Tom Flannery, and Chris Harvey) is taking place Saturday morning in Ridgewood, NJ from 10-11:30AM. Congressman Scott Garrett is hosting a breakfast at the Knights of Columbus and our slate of candidates will be there - all Meetup members are welcome to attend free of charge for some food, some conversation, and most importantly to support our Freeholder candidates. If anyone tries to charge you - just say you're with Andy Gause. In addition to making a strong showing on behalf of the three candidates - it will be a great opportunity to sign their petitions (we're in a pretty tight spot time-wise, and every signature we can get is vital). If you have any questions just shoot out an e-mail or Meetup message. Hope to see many of you there.

As some of you may have heard, Andy Gause (the same one who was so generous in providing a meeting place for our sign making and letter writing) was ordered in mid-Februrary by the Borough of Hawthorne to remove his Ron Paul lawn signs. He refused on principle and has been ticketed by Hawthorne for having an 'illicit' political sign on his property more than seven days past the primary. On March 20th the fireworks begin in Hawthorne Municipal Court. Court begins at 4pm but there's no way to be sure where his issue is on the docket - so 4pm to 6pm would be a good estimate of when we should try and be in the court. I hope anyone who is able to take off a bit early that day comes out in solidarity with defense of the Constitution. The Borough has no case, so the show of strength isn't really about helping or hurting the outcome of the event (and this will only be the first event as the sign law gets challenged straight into federal court) - but letting local authority know that they can't repeal our freedoms with local ordinances and have it go unnoticed is a separate and worthy goal in itself.

After a few much needed days of rest, the gears of the Ron Paul movement are turning again. We have booked a private room at Puzo's here in Hawthorne to celebrate our frantic efforts in the lead-up to the primary, and to press forward with the next orders of business. We will be distributing petitions for County Committee seats and giving a quick overview of what's entailed by the petitioning process. We will also be discussing the NJ Republican Delegate procedures and trying to locate three people who would be willing to run and also able to attend the Convention if elected as delegates. The room is ours from 4-7PM, so feel free to drop in late and pick up materials/get a quick overview. In case the "Family Restaurant" didn't give it away - the place is children-friendly. ;) The location is two or three blocks from the Hawthorne Meetup location - so it should be easy to find for anyone who has been out here already. Also, feel free to bring anyone who might be interested in coming. There are some 2100 people or so in Bergen County that voted for Ron Paul yet have had no interaction with the Meetup. A large part of the day-to-day work that can be done in the coming weeks is simply trying to identify some of these other Paul supporters, and seeing if they'd like to get involved locally. Hope to see everyone there! Just drop a comment or e-mail with any questions.

The big day! Well, it's that time. We've decided to leave all primary day efforts entirely decentralized. I know many of us will be hanging around 100.1 feet from our local polling stations for as much of the day as possible, politely waving signs and passing out materials to anyone who's interested and so forth. Just a reminder to *call* anyone and everyone you know who ever expressed an interest in Ron Paul - even informed citizens sometimes just lose track of what day a primary is - and to miss out on any votes that would go to Dr. Paul but for forgetfulness would be a shame. If anyone wants to, open a discussion under this event about coordinating activities with anyone who may be shy about sign-waving alone, or if you are someone who prefers to have a partner - just throw out a Meetup message and get the ball rolling that way. One thing I want to make perfectly clear is that, as far as I'm concerned, THIS DOES NOT END WITH THE PRIMARY. I am working on planning some sort of celebration of our efforts, as whatever the outcome, we can rest assured that we put out an unmatched effort and left nothing in reserve. More information on the celebration/reorgani zation event forthcoming.
