This class is the seventh one in a series of twelve classes that is intended to help people understand how the framers of our Constitutional Republic viewed their relationship to God, to other nations, among the various states and to each other. In gaining knowledge of the foundational principles of America we hope to better understand the difficulties which we face at this time. This week's lecture is entitled "Overview of the Constitution: Articles II & III."

As mentioned earlier this is a twelve week course entitled Institute on the Constitution and it was purchased from the following website Institute on the Constitution, by the local chapter of the John Birch Society. John Birch Society Please visit both websites to learn more about the people who developed the class and also about the people who brought the class to us!

Here is a brief overview of the course as taken from the Institute on the Constitution website:

Institue on the Constitution (IOTC) is an educational effort on the part of the Law Office of Peroutka and Peroutka of Pasadena, Maryland. The program is intended to re-connect Americans to the history of the American Republic and to their heritage of freedom under law.

By exploring the fundamental principles of civil government upon which our Constitutional Republic was founded, and by studying the original intent of the founders, we can begin to recover the lost freedoms that require knowledge and vigilance to protect and defend. Today, many Americans are surprised but delighted to learn that we were founded as a Constitutional Republic of Sovereign States with a central government of purposely limited powers based on Biblical principles. The recovery and application of these principles is necessary for the reclamation of the Republic.

IOTC begins with a basic course of study consisting of 12 video lectures featuring Dr. John Eidsmoe, Professor Emeritus at the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University, along with other selected materials by speakers such as David Barton of Wallbuilders, Inc. This course of study is designed in a "turn-key" fashion, enabling those with little background and training to be effective hosts of the program, thus benefiting their communities and their country by passing on the Blessings of Liberty.

The class is being hosted by my wife and I and each session lasts approximately one and a half hours. Each class consists of an opening prayer, pledge of allegiance, brief discussion of any assigned reading from the week, a thirty minute DVD lecture, followed by review questions and group discussion. The class will meet every Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. and we will be meeting this week only at Jason Dawsey's home. Map to Jason's House We will have some refreshments available before and after class.

We will provide printed copies of any required reading, weekly notes, questions, etc. The only thing that you need to bring is yourself, some other interested people and something to write with. If you are interested in attending please contact me and I can e-mail you a PDF version of the student manual for the course. Therefore, you will have access to the readings, notes, questions, etc. If you happened to miss the first two meetings do not worry, I will provide you with everything that you need to get caught up! This class is growing each week and I hope that you will be a part of our continued growth and education.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and please check the calendar again for future announcements.

Joey, I'm having second thoughts. From Silverhill to your place is a long drive to meet just 4 or 5 of you. I was ready to come as far as Regency Church. I do personally know Prof. John Eidsmoe. A great law expert, he has been published in The First Freedom. Another time maybe.
