SLO C4L Meetup Members, David Robarts, suggested this great idea for a meetup...
Constitution Day at SLO Farmers' Market: I envision a group of supporters of the U.S. Constitution gathering to promote awareness at the Farmers' market in San Luis Obispo on the 222 anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution. This is also the Thursday before Cal Poly's fall quarter starts; typically large groups of incoming freshmen are present as part of WOW week. We could either just walk the street with signs for free, or get a non-profit organization to apply for a booth for $30. I've also posted this idea as an event on 9-12 Central Coast's Social Network.
This is a GREAT idea! It will be easiest to wear pro-freedom T-shirts, carry signs, and pass out some slim-jims than to find a non-profit who would allow us to use their table. Although, I would LOVE to actually have a table in the NEAR future (would anyone want to help me with obtaining one?). By the end of this year, I will have access to a non-profit that will allow us to use their non-profit number. :-)
Here is what you can do to prepare for Constitution Day ...
1) Attend any of the SLO Campaign for Liberty Meetup group night meetings BEFORE the event so you can meet with local patriots, make signs, and be given slim-jims/freedom-handouts (we will provide you with handouts from this site - www.campaignforliberty.com/handouts.php)
2) Try to get a non-inflammatory shirt that expresses your feelings or a relevant issue that will hopefully draw people in... Campaign for Liberty has shirts, End/Audit the Federal Reserve, Support S. 604 and H.R. 1207, a shirt that asks questions or makes a statement regarding the U.S. Government not following our Constitution. Please try to lay off shirts that would piss people off (this means I won't be wearing my "Puppet Dictator" shirt with Obama's face on it - hah!)... we are trying to open up all minds to the concepts of freedom, including liberals who love Obama. ;-)
3) RSVP for this September 17th event and INVITE OTHERS!
4) Remember that we will meet at Linnea's Cafe at 9pm on Garden Street. :-)
______________________________________________________________
I will provide packets for us to pass out to folks. We will want to pass them out to people who will actually read what is inside of them. :-)
We will meet between 6:30-6:45pm at the Libertarian booth.
If there is no Libertarian booth, we'll meet at the Republican booth.
If there is no Republican booth, we'll meet at the Democrat booth.
... Someday it would be great to have our own booth, eh??
Excited to see you all there!
In Love & Liberty...
Amber D.
